I guess that depends on what effects you want from a carrier oil. These are a few of my favourites

JOJOBA oil is very rich in Vitamin E and has an indefinite shelf life, meaning that it will not go rancid. This quality makes it ideal for mixing with essential oils. It is actually more like a liquid wax that closely resembles our own sebum. It leaves a soft, satiny finish to the skin without being greasy, but it can clog your pores.

SWEET ALMOND oil is rich in proteins and Vitamin D. Its very soothing to dry and irritated skin. It leaves a slight oily feeling on the skin, and it has a shelf life of about 6 months to a year.

APRICOT KERNEL oil is nice for essential oils since it hardly has any scent of its own. It's very light/non greasy, nourishing, high in Vitamin A, and is very good for sensitive skin. It has a shelf life of 6 months to a year.

GRAPE SEED oil is rich in anti-oxidants, and very light. Its great for oily or acne prone skin, and leaves a smooth, satiny finish to skin. It also has very little scent. Its shelf life is only about 3 to 6 months though.

OLIVE OIL is very rich and nourishing, and is wonderful for dry, irritated skin. I use this as a base for healing ointments, baby bottom salves, and preparations for eczema, psoriasis etc. Extra Virgin is the best kind to buy, because of its therapeutic properties, although it has a very strong scent and leaves an oily feeling on the skin. It has a shelf life of about a year.

CAMELLIA SEED oil is an amazing anti-oxidant, and helps to protect the skin from free-radicals damage. It was even used in Asia to protect Samurai swords from corrosion! It is great in rejuvenating treatments for skin and hair (I use it for anti-aging creams). It has a shelf life of about 2 years.

MACADAMIA NUT oil is very rich in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Its excellent in formulas to help heal scars, sunburns, and stretch marks. It leaves an oily feeling on the skin, and has a shelf life of about 1 year.

PEACH KERNEL oil is rich in Vitamin A & E, and has anti-oxidant properties. Its very nourishing and regenerative for dry, sensitive, inflammed, and mature skin. It leaves a slightly oily feeling on the skin, and has a shelf life of about 12 to 18 months.

If you could tell me what you are planning to make, I could suggest some blending recipes.

sweet almond oil or extra extra virgin olive oil.

sweet almond or extra virgin olive oil.if you can get hold of it candlenut(kukui)oil is wonderful and has healing properties too.type of blends depends on what and how and why you are using them.

I have used coconut oil to make bases with, I love it and the oil seems to have some sort of healing property of its own.
