How do I delay my period until after my vacation? Herbal?!

Question: Please help! My periods are terribly painful, and I am going on vacation next month (I've been planning it for over a year!) Wouldn't you know it? My period is due at that time!

I don't take birth control pills, so manipulating the schedule of pills won't do it for me. I think I remember hearing once about some kind of herbs you can take to do this, but I just can't remember what they are.

Excercising vigorously can delay your period because it offsets your normal metabolism. SO if you are used to doing aerobic exercise 30 minutes a day 4 days a week you can bump it up to an hour a day everyday or something like that.

It works for me:
I am more active in the summers and as a result my periods come late and sometimes I skip a month because my body is not used to me exercising and doing as much physicial activity.

The only other option I know is Birth Control but I am not a big fan of pumping hormones into my body.

I just recently went through this same thing and did some research. I read that if your take ibprofen, (4) 200mg pills twice a day for a few days, it will stop you're period. It said to take them for a few days.
So I tried it but only got through two doses of it before my period was completely gone. I took them on the day that I started spotting and by the end of the day it was gone. It never came that month and the next month it came late. Now it is back on track.
What I read said that the medicine in the pills stop the bleeding internally. You may still want to research on it, but, it didn't affect me other than stopping the period. I know it's not herbal but it also wasn't that bad.
I also read that you tell yourself to stop and you will. Your body does not understand certain words like after or not but if you tell yourself I will start my period on Friday, if that is when you will be back from your special event, it will listen. When I took the pills I tried that as well but either way whatever of the two, it worked!!

Other than birth control, there isn't much you can do. Other than the fact that you're going on vacation, if you're not planning to conceive, I would recommend the pill just to relieve your symptoms. It won't completely get rid of the cramping, but it does make a HUGE difference. Give your ob/gyn a ring and see what they say. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!
