Can somebody help settle a bet?!

Question: My friend told me he heard on the radio that people desperate to get high are defecating in a bag, letting the gasses build up then breathing the gas in. I say no way anybody else heard of that? thanks

hell no any idiot could buy some strong glue instead why would they want to smell their own crap

EWWW!!! I think you have to add pee also.It was all over the internet and newspaper too! I'm not sure if you get high but I'm sure it will give you some really bad breath!

not true, there are no chemicals in feces to create an intoxicating or euphoric effect, unless the person ate some chemicals in which case it wouldn't count because you would be getting high off the chemicals in the crap and not the poo itself, Don't worry, YOU WIN!!!!

Yep; heard about it; was on the news extensively about a month ago. Caused a lot of alarm. Apparently it's possible to do this for a mild high, but a week after the story broke, lots of drug experts reported that this is NOT a common practice at all - and for all the obvious reasons. In other words, it was a lot of alarmist hype.

I do it all the time. Matter of fact I get extra bags at Wal-Mart just for that! Jk =}

The main gas in feces is methane, and while it is flammable I doubt it would produce a high.
It could cause severe respiratory problems (methane is toxic) and possibly a false high - it would interfere with oxygen absorption and so could cause hypoxia (a lack of oxygen in the body) and that can lead to hallucinations and strange behaviour.

No, you couldn't get high, but you could set the gases on fire! (It's really true!) That's why you should never smoke in the outhouse.
