My Mum has liver problems. Can you recommend any food or herbs that will support!

Question: She refuses pharmaceutical medications and wants to try natural therapies.
Thanks.

Herbs: Milk Thistle by itself, or blended with dandelion and artichoke.
Schisandra berries.
Rehmannia root.
Turmeric.

Food: Cabbage is one of the best vegetables for the liver. In juice form, it is more digestable. Doesn't taste very nice. Try blending raw cabbage leaves, 1 small cucumber and half a pear with a dash of mineral water and a splash of lemon juice in your mixer and getting your Mum to drink it as often as you can! The pear and lemon juice make it really yummy!
Dandelion roots, roasted like parsnips, can help.
Artichokes are good.

And try making her a ginger root infusion a few hours before bed ... very detoxifying. However, some people find it keeps them awake, so try it a few hours before her bedtime at first. All you have to do is get or buy a ginger root, slice some of it up and pop it into a mug. Then pour boiling water over it and leave it to steep for about 3 or 5 minutes.
She could also benefit from a sea-salt bath once a week and if able to cope, a brisk walk or some kind of exercise which will increase her intake of oxygen and make her sweat. Sweat cleanses the body of trapped toxins and would put less pressure on her liver.
I hope some or all my ideas can help!

It depends on what the problems are.

anything with high vitamin K will help her alot try vitamin C too it will help her stay concious.

Onions are apparently good.

alothough i never agree to not listening to a medical doctor, i know where you are comming from. well first of all the liver needs plenty of minerals. As you know minerals are obtained from fruits and vegetables. Once a day try to drink a vegetable juice. also, check out the website that i have provided below , it gives extensive lists that might help, good luck!

what about green tea?

Milk thistle is an excellent natural therapy. Also eating lamb's or pigs liver should help. Oat bran and porridge. Any thing that stimulates the bodies cleansing system.

i have a liver problem called gilbert syndrome, i take milk thistle daily and i do not eat anything that is fatty, i find that dairy products can make me worse but i do eat a few. onions and beetroot are good for the liver, dandilion tea is good for the liver too.

This is a no cost natural therapy.Mum would feel better inherself from day 2. Mum do these exercises everyday and you will not believe the results. The extra oxygen helps the body to heal. Get the liver function tests(blood test) done regularly and monitor the result.Tell the doctor that you are doing these exercises.
