noooo !! vitamin C supplements shouldn't give you nausea. perhaps the vitamin C supplement was taken at the same time as your medicine or antiobiotics ?? Things such as antiobiotics, antidepressants, oral contraceptives will all rob you of your precious B complex of vitamins - nausea is a symptom of vitamin B12 deficiency. Taking too much vitamin C will simply make you run to the loo as vitamin C is a natural laxative but also a super powerfull antioxidant.

Other symptoms of B complex deficiency you may be suffering from are headaches and migraines, vomiting, fatigue and exhaustion, irritability and moodiness, inability to think clearly, depression, dizzy spells, excessive sweating, numbness and tingling and prickling sensations in the outer extremities and even chest pains and heart palpitations !! Quite scary actually if you don't realise the vitamin factor.

The B complex of vitamins is a water soluble complex and therefore our bodies can neither store or produce them. As such we need to ingest them on a daily basis or suffer the consequences as you unfortunately are.

When we are placed under extra stress ie: school studies, new job, everyday life really .... our bodies will usually use up our precious stores of the B complex first to deal with the stress.

If you are vegetarian or lactose intolerant and choose to supplement your diet with a multi B complex supplement get one including all the B's ie: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12 as they work best together.

Try also to avoid the B complex thieves such as alcohol, caffeine, sodas and soft drinks, tinned foods ........... diuretics, laxatives and aspirin will all also rob you of your B complex of vitamins. :0)

good health to you and yours?

You're probably taking more than your body wants. I'd suggest not taking the supplements. Try orange juice maybe?

well stop and see if nausea goes away, as it may not be due to the vitamin c , hard to overdose on vitamin c , as you just urinate out any excess vitamin c your body can't handle if your intake is high your urine will be bright either yellow/orange, that means your intake is to high

Vitamin C is one of the few that you can't overdoes on. What your body cannot use, it will flush out. If the supplement didn't agree with you, try another brand. You can take up to 3,000 per day without any harmful affects.

Not an overdose. Vit C is quite safe, but you can take more than your body can handle. Nausea with Vit C is actually a sign that you took it on an empty stomach. You want to eat something when you take it - with meals is your best bet. That is how it would occur naturally, with food.

A sign that you are taking too much Vit C is actually diarrhea. Then you just back off to a smaller dosage.

With C you want to dose several times daily, since it is water soluble and your body rids itself of excess. It doesn't hang around until supper if you took it at breakfast.

Another thing you might notice is that over time you start to develop viral symptoms when taking Vit C. That is because C is also an anti-viral. It isn't making you sick, it is flushing out latent viruses. That is a good thing. So, if you take 500mg of C 3x a day for a month, then start to develop a runny nose, it means that it is cleansing the body of a virus that hadn't manifested, but was latent in there.

Good health to you.

You didn't say how much you were taking. Some people are at more risk than others. I wouldn't trust anyone who says something like "You CAN'T overdose on ....... (fill in the blank)"

Here is what they said on a website I looked up that talks extensively about vitamin C.

High levels / Overdose / Toxicity / Negative Side Effects - Symptoms and/or Risk Factors:

Diarrhea, abdominal cramps, high stomach acid, increased urination, insomnia, irritability, joint pains,
osteoporosis, headaches, hypoglycemia, weakness, anemia, PMS, may increase infections by causing
copper deficiency, reduced estrogen, reduced progesterone, reduced prolactin,

Although you can't really overdose on vitamin C because it is water soluble and the excess is eliminated every day you can nevertheless get some side effects from megadoses.

Too much vitamin C can give you kidney stones and it is also a diuretic. It also causes your body to absorb more iron and reduces your selenium levels.

For further information perhaps a search for "vitamin c" + "side effects" might be of interest.

Vitamin C ... Are there any side effects or interactions?

Some people develop diarrhoea after as little as a few grams of vitamin C per day, while others are not bothered by ten times this amount. Strong scientific evidence to define and defend an upper tolerable limit for vitamin C is not available. A review of the available research concluded that high intakes (2
