What is the difference of robitussin DM and promethazine DM?!

I dont think you should take either while pregnant. They both have a bit of narcotics in them.

I would suggest hot tea, warm saline mouth wash (gurggle, and swallow if you want), hard peppermint candies, and a saline nose spray.

Also, being that you are preg, you may want to contact your doc about your 'common' cough and cold. While it very well could be nothing more than weather change issues, if you are sick, you probably need to know.

Here are a couple links for you to look at

The robitussin is dextromethorphan and guaifenesin

The promethazine is phenegran and dextromethorphan

The only thing that are the same is the dm......

promethazine is an anti nausea med with side effects of cough suppression and robitussin is an over the counter.
cough suppression is bad unless you are unable to sleep or are coughing up blood. both of these have expectorants in them which is good because it makes your cough more productive and you get crap OUT when you cough. you need to get it out so you can exchange oxygen and CO2 across those membranes that are gummed up. choose a cough medicine that is only expectorant and drink plenty of water as the expectorant will put water into your secretions so they become more loose and easier to expell.
