Can a chiropractor help cure GERD?!

Question: My best answer would be - sometimes. GERD is very hard to help, by any means. We think that spasms in the esophogeal sphincter can sometimes be relaxed through cervical and thoracic manipulation. Sometimes it does respond very well, but not always, then you have to concentrate on diet control and medication. Best luck!

very strong chance of that they can do a LOT of things using the body to heal itself

no chiropractor cure phyical like back bones

Nope. Your best chances would be seeing an gastrologist.

I don't think anyone can CURE it. See, with GERD, the reason for the reflux is due to a problem with the LaryngoEsophageal Sphinctor, which is a muscle that prevents the stomach contents / acid from backing up. Hiatal hernia may cause problems with this LES. A chiropractor may somehow be able to correct the hernia, however, the GERD remains and it could only be treated with medication.

GERD is a multifactorial disease, often due in part to incompetence of the lower esophageal sphincter or a hiatal hernia, and hypochlorhydria (dec stomach acid production). Skeletal manipulation seems unlikely to resolve these issues. I am aware of no peer-reviewed, randomized studies demonstrating efficacy of chiropractic for this condition, and a MEDLINE search yields no hits. My default answer would be "no."

I would say No! However, It doesn't suprise me that 'they' claim to be able to.
I worked in an x-ray practise where patients would get refered from Chiro's for whole spine x-rays for complaints such as 'difficulty swallowing'!! Now why on earth would you go to a Chiro for that!
I'd work on changing my diet and doing more exercise and try eating some wholegrain brown rice with a few meals for a few weeks and see how you feel.
Otherwise get your GP to refer you to a gastroenterologist.

No. Chiropractors can only help in osteo related cases like dislocations, fractures, arthritis and the likes. Chiropractor works by using the manipulation technique. GERD is an acid reflux disorder and is due to hyper acidity. A Gastro-enterologist will be more of help here. There are a few home remedies to tackle acidity. See if it helps.
