Natural diuretics?!

Question: I am looking for something more natural than water tablets that are prescribed by my GP to combat water retention. Its not a serious problem I have, but I do suffer from water retention and some days I have quite swollen hands and legs due to it - mainly at the end of the day. I dont particularly like taking medication so I was just wondering if there was something more natural that could be used instead. Thanks in advance for any help given.

One of the best ones I have tried personally is nettle tea but that is an acquired taste to be honest with you...though you can find nettle leaf capsules in many health stores.

If you go to a health shop you can find 'water tablets' which are herbal. If you live in the UK you can find these in Holland and Barrett. They contain known diuretic herbs such as uva ursi, parsley and buchu, among others. Another good herb that can help in addition to the ones I have mentioned is Horsetail. It would be a good ides also to drink a small glass of water before meals with a couple of teaspoons of apple cider vinegar added to the water. The potassium content of the apple cider vinegar should help with any water retention.

You must have been told to cut back on salt? You could also try a low-salt substitute (potassium/sodium chloride mix) from your supermarket... as long as you are not on heart medication. If you are on any medication always check with a doctor or pharmacist first before taking anything herbal as some herbs are known to have herb-drug interactions.

Hope this is of some help.
Best wishes.

Watermelon. It is made up of mostly water

Caffeine is a natural diuretic, so I'd go for foods or drinks that naturally have caffeine: coffee, tea (green tea is good for you, too!), that kind of thing.

mixture of hot and cold releases water from the body. Many people use this method and I have also tried it once. Drink hot tea and then cold water. You will see the effect.

if you are not a diabetic patient then you can have glucose powder mixed in water.. glucose drags the water.. we are getting glucose powders in the name of glucon-d in india.. ui think u can try that..

Coffee,or dandelion coffee, try chicory, lettuce, Anise, or celery, coriander is good, or garlic, try juniper berries, or try lemon, licorice, nutmeg, or onion, parsley peppermint and just ordinary tea, if you drink 8 glasses of water a day that will help flush your system and some gentle Chi Gung will keep it away with regular practice, Long socks Knee high work a treat too.

Wild Celery, Dandelion, and Artichoke extract are good diruetics.

Asparagus is a natural diuretic, as is chard & parsley.
Also alfa alfa & juniper juice.
tyou must also take a B Complex & calcium citrate as the tablets deplete the body's B vitamins & calcium.
(this site sells a good brand of Calcium citrate,http://www.nutricentre.com/pages/manufac...

i tried nettle tea for its supposed healthy aspects, i did not know at that time of its diuretic effect...

i must have weed about 12 times in an hour...!

Natural Diuretics mainly you can get from drinking herbal, chocolates drinks and taking salty foods which will enforce you to drink more water, but this only in case if you are not hypertensive.
With my best wishes

Puffiness in your legs or other limbs may be caused by a build-up of excess fluid underneath the skin. What can you do to remedy water retention? According to research or other evidence, the following self-care steps may be helpful:

Asparagus is a natural diuretic...Also try lying on back with your feet up if only for a few minutes at a time during the day..
