Whtas the best remedy for the mocus?!

Question: I usually use Lemon Water (with fresh Lemon juice) as strong as I can handle it for a day or two. As long as I don't eat anything else that is all it takes. The first time I did it was when I had laryngitis and needed to work the next day, after one day on the lemon water I could talk though I still had a sore throat for a couple days. Now if I have any mucus I try the lemon first. Though with my sons when they where little I used mullein tea.

If it is in the lungs or bronchials I have found that Dr. Christopher's respiratory formula is the best. I like in the alcohol - free tincture as I can take with me and use it when I need it. Christopher's herb shop is in Springville UT, but they do phone and I think Internet orders, there number is (801) 489-4500 or fax (801) 489-4814, these aren't toll free.

Mucinex. It is a over the counter drug that kills mucus. Cost a lot and i've never tried it.

get some mucinex it works great!

Mullein tea. It is great for all things respiratory. Add honey, as honey is also good. Apple cider vinegar will help knock out the virus causing the mucus. Best way to take is 1 teaspoon or so in a glass of apple juice.

If you want OTC medicine, Robitussin PE (or Mucinex) Look for guaifenisen (not 100% on the spelling). It thins the mucus to help it pass through without getting into lungs or clogging things up. Rob PE also has something great for nasal decongestant, that is in one of the mucinex formulations too. Don't get cough formulas as suppressing the cough is counter productive to removing the mucus.

Water, when you are sufficiently hydrated then mucus thins out. Add these teas to Zambiti's list. If mucus is in your lungs fenugreek tea is well know for getting rid of even old caked masses of mucus. If its in your sinuses and draining in the back of your throat then stout ginger tea works wonders and for more serious sinus conditions cayenne tea is amazing sip it and gargle it. Hot water with lemon in it with just a hint of honey is a good drink to alternate with these teas, kind of like a hot lemonade tea. None of these teas is more than a few dollars a box. Cooking spices can even be substituted for the boxed tea bags.
