How is the best way to treat a pinched nerve?!

Question: i have been living with what i think to be a pinched nerve in my left shoulder for a few months now. i thought that it might have just needed time to heal, but it looks as if i need to have it looked at. do i need to see a doctor or is accupunture a good alternative or are there some other channels that i should look into?

I really would see a doctor and not try to self-diagnose. The dr can send you for an emg (electromyelogram) which tests for pinched nerves. If one does have one, physical therapy (PT) can help though not a panacea, cure-all. Professionals typically say that it can take a couple years for the pinched nerve to heal though not usually completely as I still have problems albeit better. Water/aqautic therapy may be helpful as part of a PT program. Your health insurance may cover pt and one usually needs a referral from their doctor beforehand receiving therapy.

I take glucosamine/chondroiton capsules and they seem to help with my sciatica (sciatic nerve is pinched, the longest nerve in the body) and my neck and back problems. Please do make an appointment with your doctor though and discuss your pain with him or her. Feel better soon!

Accupuncture will help faster, along with arnica and maybe high doses of vitaminB

chiro all the way!

If you think it is due to a chemical imbalance, see an MD. But that is hardly alternative. If it is a structural problem, see a Chiropractor first.
