Question: has anyone ever used these? do they really work?

Do they really work?
NO.
They're a scam. You cannot remove "toxins" (whatever those are supposed to be) through the skin on the soles of your feet. These things are just removing the toxic money from the wallets of the gullible.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the Kinoki commercial this afternoon. From what I've researched on the net, it seems like a big hoax. I found this on an internet forum, I don't know if this guy is really a neurotoxicologist, but what he said makes a lot of sense.

"I'm a neurotoxicologist at Ohio State University. After seeing the commercial I decided to search the web to see if the company makes any claims on how the product works. My suspicions were immediatly aroused after seeing the commercial. From my experience, none of these products work, but I like to investigate them to use as examples in my lectures. In just a few short sentenses I can tell you why they cannot live up to thier claims. But first, why the turning brown? Easy, its the vinager, see for yourself. Leave a jar of mayonaise out on your counter for several days and see what happens. It will start to turn brown. Then look at the ingredients. It contains vinager. The claims are that the foot pads contains double distilled bamboo vinager, and this is the main active ingredient in the foot pads. And now why will the foot pads not work? First, while the skin may be an effective way to absorbe substances, it is not a very effective organ at extruding them. For this purpose the liver, kidney and urethra are most effective. Many of these minerals are too large to move across membranes ie. blood vessels and cells, by passive transport ( diffusion or no use of energy ). They must be moved out of the blood stream into the urine and only the urine by active transport ( requires the use of energy, or ATP ). By design these foot pads work on the premise of diffusion, or moving from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration across membranes. One problem here, the skin is not a membrane...... So how does it supposedly work? After all there are tests that confirm it claims. this too is easly explained, ask and drug user trying to pass a drug test. Vinager shuts down the kidneys, thus preventing the passing of any toxins into the urine or any other deposit location of toxins, including hair, for a short period of time. These products do not cleanse the body. in fact they do the opposite, the keep toxins from leaving the body. If you wish to get the same effect, drink a cup of vinager a day but dont do it for too long, its not healthy, but you will save alot of money."

Save your money- it's a scam!

It's a sham. You cannot get rid of toxins that way as proved by that paragraph from a scientist. Keep your money.

If you want to detoxify yourself, help your kidneys by drinking plently of water and eat a healthy diet and excersize. This is a no brainer. This will also make you lose weight and shape up too. If you want to get rid of toxins built up in the muscles then take a hot bath, get into a sauna for a while, or get a massage then drink plenty of water and stretch your muscles. Water is a natural detoxifyer and the only thing I know of that will work. No idea if that will get rid of heavy metals in the blood however..
