Has anyone used St John's Wort? ..or know anyone who has?!

Question: Can you recommend it?

Answers: Can you recommend it?

St John's Wort is very good for treating mild to moderate depression, anxiety, seasonal affective disorder, viral infections, applied topically for burns, scrapes and nerve pain. I have used it for several of these things. When combined with 5 HTP it is very helpful for treating depression. vitacost, com sells a combination of 5 HTP and St. John's Wort together.
The only side effect to be aware of when taking it is that it may increase photosensitivity, meaning you may burn faster in the sun. It does not have any serious side effects associated with it, certainly not like prescription antidepressants and antianxiety meds. You shouldn't take either one of those if you're taking St. John's Wort.
It's a very safe herb.

My dad used to take it, though he said he didn't really notice an effect. Even though it's an herb, it does have many side effects, so while it does do amazing things for some people, you should not start taking it without doing some research and possibly talking to your doctor.

My main warning is that if you are taking birth control pills, St. John's Wort can cause them not to work properly.

Here's a great page that goes over the uses, benefits, and side effects:

Yes. i recommend it..5-HTP also worked for me.

I've used it and it didn't really work well for me.

This did help though: http://www.911healthshop.com/hapcambynat...

my dad used to take it and it worked wonders but now (unrelated) he has kidney problems as well as diabetes and the doctor recommends that he does not take any herbal medicines.
