Is 5-HTP an effective and relatively safe alternative to prescription meds for d!

Question: Yes, in fact, it's one of the most popular mood support products that we sell and we literally have tens of thousands of customers that take it on a daily basis. One thing to note is that it does make some people a bit tired, but it helps a LOT of people with emotional health.
If that doesn't work well enough for you, you could also try St. John's Wort, L-Theanine, GABA, or Rhodiola Rosea... those are the other most popular products for mood support. Good luck!

I have heard that I can be. I tried it myself for a while because I heard it helps control sugar cravings, and since I'm pre-diabetic I thought it might help.

I did have a mild sense of well being, but it also gave me a headache. Since I don't suffer from depression I can't vouch for that, but the science is that it apparently increases your brain's production of seratonin, which is what some anti-depressants do.

Read up on it and talk to your doctor. It can interfere with other medications, such as psuedoephedrine (cold medication). I'm in Canada, where you can still find ephedra, which I take for asthma. I learned the hard way that the two don't work well together. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack.

Instead of taking medications, my wife went from a BMI of 28 to 21 and got some vigorous exercise four or five days a week. She is happier than ever, her libido has returned, and she sleeps more soundly.
