Is SUBOXONE the same as Methadone??!
Question: both Suboxone and Methadon are used when a person wants to get off heroin. They lessen the withdrawal effects and cravings after the heroin as they hit the same receptors.

This eliminates any physical discomfort of withdrawal. Addiction therapy continues to help with any psychological dependence. It is said that Methadone is far more physically and psychologically addictive. Often addicts who start with heroin and go into Methadone treatment end up with a even more nasty addiction. Some of them even end up taking Methadone for the rest of their lives while this is not the case with suboxone. Suboxone patients stop the drug within a week to a couple years. This is because Methadone stays in the body's system for a long time.
if you take suboxone while methadone is in your system it will put you in immediate withdrawl. reason: the agonist in suboxone saturates the opiate recepters, if there is methadone already on those receptors than part of the suboxone dose will waste itself pushing the methadone of the receptor i.e. immediate withdrawl. and then there is not enough suboxone left to take its place.

It is used to treat opiate addiction, but it is not the same formula.

no im guessing you are trying to recover from a heroin addiction. Methadone is just a replacement and eventually u will be addicted to that. Suboxone blocks the receptors in your brain so you wont be able to get high or have bad cravings and eventually you will quit on your own. Suboxone would be a better choice

No. It is the same in the way your Dr. may set you up on a "maintenance program." Like, "Methadone Maintenance." That basically, is a period of time that a professional will prescribe it to you, and "yes," both are an opioid. And what they do is "ween" you down off of the Suboxone, or Methadone, with 'in' weeks, or months, and with some counseling, and Narcotics Anonymous meetings and passed urine samples, you eventually get it all out of your body and brain, until you have safely detoxed and feel better. However, Suboxone has a greatly higher success rate, Vs. Methadone (Methadone is actually found to be harder, and more painful to come off of than heroin itself, and comes either in a liquid or pill form. Suboxone comes in a pill form that you place under your tounge 1 time per day, no matter how big or small the dose, until it disolves. So don't leave them near water, don't inject or swallow. As someone that takes Suboxone, I can say that I have felt no side effects at all of any sickness, when I stopped my Suboxone cold turkey. The only thing i did expierience was being VERY TIRED, as if I had been on speed for days ...(when i wasn't really) Yeah, but I unfortunatley, am one of those chronic relapsers, so I felt that some sort of program, or someone guiding me through, piss testing me for any other drugs, ect. It is the best way for me to go. Especially knowing that it isn't that bad when you stop taking it...hope this helps...

they both do the job...it think suboxone is a take home. and methadone is when you have to go in every morning to get your dose which is in liquid form.
