Acupuncture have you tried it,would you reccomend it?!

Question: I have used it and I know it works, I have had it for a few conditions - mainly muscular injuries. Some say it is a placebo effect - it doesn't matter to me as long as it helps me!! I have read a lot about it and I know there are vets who use acupuncture succesfully on animals and animals do not respond to placebos. Make sure you go to a reputable acupuncturist, there are a number of different types of acupuncturists, including qualified doctors, nurses and physios, who have years of medical experience before they are allowed to train as an acupuncturist, you can get treatments with some of these acupuncturists through the NHS.

yes for me it is a stress reliever =)

it doesnt hurt at all. you dont get any sores or blood.nothing.

for me i am much calmer after acupuncture.

never.

Doesn't work, can't work. Been utterly debunked by proper doctors, and is based on a homuncular concept of the human body that just isn't so!

The whole thing was part of the 'barefoot doctor' bamboozle that Chairman Mao introduced to cover the fact that Communist China could not afford real medicine. He fabricated 'ancient' medicines that were in truth little more than a mass placebo. Unfortunately, some gullible western medics fell for it as well!

yes im have had it for whiplash injuries to ny neck and i found it worked for me and was painless , if i need it again that will be ok by me strongly recommend it

Yes I've tried it, and yes I'd recommend it. BUT, not all acupuncturists are alike. Some are much better than others. Just research the person you'd be going to.

It is just soooo great and relaxing. If it's done by an experienced acupuncturer it can virtually do miracles. I've tried it several times, and it was a great help and relieved stress a great deal. Don't be afraid of the needles - usually you don't even feel them.

Tried it years ago to try and stop smoking, ha left the building and lit up. But just for the record, I am now a none smoker, gave up without acupuncture. but this is not to say that it will not help anyone else.

Yes &Yes. It was part of my physiotherapy treatment for pain and reducing the swelling on my leg which i had broken. It worked for me.

i didn't believe it would work and it miraculously did (my point being it was not psychological).

i used it to treat anxiety and hormone problems and it worked incredibly well when nothing else did.
my mother find it does nothing for her so i think you have to try different things to see what works for you

I've not tried it because I am squeemish but I recently heard about laser therapy, which is based on accupuncture/accupressure points, but is non-invasive.

I've heard that it is good for things like quitting smoking, weight loss and stress too - you might want to check that option out.

Not only have I tried it, I'm currently enrolled at Bastyr University to become a practitioner.

Would I recommend it? Depends on your problem. Acupuncture (as one part of Traditional Chinese Medicine) can effectively treat many issues--but some are better dealt with by other systems.

Also remember that acupuncture is a technique with various systems (TCM, Five Element, Japanese, Korean, etc.), not a "medicine" unto itself. Your results will vary depending on the compatibility of your particular issue to the system your practitioner uses, as well as the skill of said practitioner.

Good Luck!

Tried it.
Loved it.
Recommend it.

The most recent and one of the largest studies on acupuncture failed to show it had any greater effect than random insertion of needles. ( Both had a similar and significant placebo effect though.)

I would definitely recommend acupuncture. I had it to stop smoking, (not had a cigarette since 2001) Also had it for whiplash and it really helped. Better than any medication from the doctor.
My husband get acupuncture to help with his fatigue.
