It used to be prescription only drug. Now, can be bought OTC. I was prescribe naproxen when I was a teen for menstrual cramping when other things didn't work. It didn't work either. You might ask your mom about it. Your first concern is keeping your sister safe, your mother should know. It could be you just weren't in on the part where it was prescribed. Crushed up - does she have a problem swallowing pills?

Err on the side of your sister's safety though. I've never heard of naproxen being used for highs, but anything is possible and kids are discovering new ways to kill themselves daily. Talk to your parents.

Also, a pharmacist would probably know the potential for abuse - you could check at your local drug store.

It's a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It's usually used for pain relief and inflammation, and is commonly sold under the name brand Aleve (Naproxen Sodium).
You can find out more info at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naproxen or at drugs.com http://www.drugs.com/naproxen.html

Check out www.rxlist.com

It has good info there. It's an anti-flamatory drug.

I used to take it for back pain (NSAID) - Non-sterodal anti inflammitory. I never got "high" or anything from them - but then again I never tried to?

The brand name for Naproxen is Aleve. It's an anti-inflammatory, just like Advil. You can't get high off of it.
