Holistic -I'm assuming you mean anyone not MD, such as naturopaths, chiropractors, homeopaths, actupuncturists, etc. Yes, we don't use MDs as our first line defense here, haven't for years. We gave them many chances, and they kept blowing it. We switched to chiro, naturopath and self healing. Lots of study is involved in the way we do it, but a good naturopath has done the study for you. Definitely try one out. Homeopaths are excellent resources for healing too! The others we use more specifically.

If you tell us what the problem is, we can head you in the right direction and maybe even give you a few choice interventions to start you on the healing path.

And, not all faith healers are phonies. We've used those too. :-)

Best health to you!

Some are great. Some are quacks. Ask if they consider themselves as practicing complementary medicine. They say yes they are more reliable.

ABSOLUTELY!! A naturalpath is an excellent choice, especially if you find a reputable one. You just have to remember that while a prescription med might work quicker b/c it's attacking a symptom, holistic medicine is treating your body as a whole, working on getting EVERYTHING working together and finding the source of the problem...for example, a problem like cholesterol is not really a problem. Cholesterol is a symptom of another problem. Cholesterol drugs attack the cholesterol (symptom) whereas a good holistic doctor will find out why you have cholesterol in the first place. Just make sure you find a good one...a good person to ask for a recommended naturalpath is a chiropractor, actually. You could call around to a couple different practices and just ask if they have the name of a naturalpath doctor that they recommend.

some are phony as faith healers. However, faith healers work in the sense that they get you to change your mind-set into a new paradigm of belief. That is the begining stage of any healing, is to change your mind-set.

Holistic doctors can help but you need to do your research. Some of them out there are out to make a buck and will have you spend tons and tons of $$ on supplements, seminars, books and such.

Some out there have great integrity and will do a phenomenal job. The key ingredient is to change your mental mind-set about healing, and then find a doc / practitioner out there who best suits YOUR needs and goal, not their needs and implement their goals to you. Find a practitioner who likes working with traditional western MD's or other professionals. Those that tend to bash the traditional health paradigm are out there to preach their own beliefs.

I find a lot out there to be genuine, as long as they are looking out for you.

yes, dr.larry chan in vancouver cured cancer. granted, it was a dog that had the cancer, but before it was taken to him, the vet said it was too aggressive, and the dog would die. yay chinese medicine!

Hey, before you go to a holistic doctor try a chiropractor first. If that doesn't relieve the pain after regular treatments (my brother had GREAT sucess with this and his health insurance paid for it).

Second vote would be for accupunture.
