I REALLY need some help about hormones and pregnancy?!

I had a baby back in June 2007, and i breastfed her.I dont breastfeed her anymore, and earlier this month when i was 13 dpo, i spotted brown a couple times when i wiped at the bathroom, and i remembered the only time that happened was when i was pregnant the 1st time(m/c that baby) Last month i had a false faint positive at home, a neg at the dr.'s.. and then got my period,so obviously i wasnt pregnant..
My hormones were really out of wack from having a baby and breastfeeding her for so long, they even caused me to have a false very faint positive,(which i got beofre i started taking the capsules)that i started to take some safe natural hormone herbal capsules earlier this month. But i stopped last thursday(15 dpo) when i started to think i might be pregnant. And so far this month, i havent got a period yet and am late, and spotted 13 dpo, and on 16,18,and 19 dpo all very strong positives..

You are more than likely pregnant. Pregnancy tests are not affected by hormone capsules, because the hormone HCG is only produced by a developing embryo. I'm not sure what you mean by a faint positive, because the test is either positive or not. If the concentration of HCG isn't enough to trigger a positive, then it won't react. I really think you need to lay off the capsules and see the gyn ASAP. Breastfeeding does supress ovulation, but as a form of birth control it's not that dependable. It does however, encourage the body to return to the normal hormonal state in a more gradual manner, the way nature likely intended. Your hormones don't get out of whack while nursing, in fact, they tend to be very much in line with what is required. In your case, they were probably trying to return when you stopped nursing- it can take a few cycles for that to happen predictably again. But apparently, you ovulated and are likely now pregnant again. Go see your gyn.
Taking herbal remedies is really dangerous especially if you are taking any other kinds of medication ..... even pain killers. The only real answer is time will tell. Your body does seem to be on a bit of a hormonal overload at the moment, I would stop the herbs and see what happens!! Curious .... but what it in the tablets?
