I've been taking melatonin for over 12 years. I take the lowest dose that will help me sleep; however, over time I will develop a resistance to it so I increase the dose. Finally, usually due to expense or lack of sleep, I'll go off of it for a period of a few days (3-4), then start over at a low dose - yes, this means I don't sleep much during the "break" period. I don't know that I've ever read what is too high a dose - right now I'm taking 15 mg at bedtime and more if I wake up before 4 a.m.

i have been taking 6mg of sublingual every night for 30 years.
IT IS A GREAT ! If you realy want go to sleep quick , desolve the 6 mg. sublingual in a cup of wine, I PREFER BLACKBERRY WINE, YOU WILL GO TO SLEEP.

Meltonin is safe, but usually in lmg. i have never heard anyone taking it in a higher mg. I think this 6mg is to much and i'd ask a doctor if i was you.

I take 9 mg at bedtime. I checked and it is safe at much higher doses than that. You are fine.

There is a website called www.melatonin.com that appears to be worth checking out.

I don't think you need to worry. I buy it in 5mg. I take it once in awhile but I was just told the other day that it works best taken regularly.
