Taking Cayenne pepper supplements long term?!

Question: I have been taking cayenne pepper supplement for a while now to help support circulation and overall health. I take one capsule every morning with breakfast and have been doing so for about a year now.
Would there be any negative side effects of taking cayenne pepper overtime on a daily basis? For example, would the body become accustomed to the supplement and rely on its effects? Basically, I want to know if its ok to take for longer amounts of time ( i am currently 20 years old )

The only thing I have heard the may effect taking it long term, is that if you don't taste it, the body doesn't digest it as well as it could, and it may cause ulcers and/or other complains.

I recommend to everyone that takes cayenne to taste it, even if only a grain when taking the pills, to insure they get the full benefit, and avoid any bad effects from poorly digested cayenne.

Cayenne helps with digestion when tasted, rebuilds the stomach lining when the digestive juices are activated, and many other benefits that you seem to know.

We have cayenne in the pepper shaker on the table for convenience, and use it on our food or just the first bite to stimulate the digestive juices. You can start small, and work your way up to enjoying it just on your food, or continue to take the pills, or both.

One last thought, if you choose to ever stop taking cayenne, remember to replace the vitamin C, or go off it slowly, as cayenne is very high vitamin C. Going off vitamin C too quickly will lower your immune system, until your body readjusts.

You can take this supplement for long periods unless you take certain medications or have stomach problems. In addition, possible interactions between herbs and drugs or other herbs should be considered. The supplements may cause the body to absorb more theophylline (an asthma medicine) and acetaminophen (pain medicine.) They can also interfere with or worsen side effects of certain blood pressure medicines and other drugs. Some combinations may be dangerous. Always tell your doctor and pharmacist about any herbs you are taking.

No, not at all. There are millions of people that eat a lot of spices daily, and there are even cultures that have very spicy diets on a daily basis (Italians among others). Taking a pill of Cayenne pepper is the same thing as eating a small amount of Cayenne daily.
The only way it would hurt you is if you are taking certain drugs or have any stomach issues or digestive problems (too much acid, ulcers, etc).

If you are 20 now, don't take any drugs that would cause problems, don't have any digestive problems, and have a generally balanced diet, you probably wouldn't have any problems taking Cayenne daily for 50-80 years.... maybe even longer ;-)

Heck, we have people in their 80s that have taken Cayenne for a few decades without problems. I really doubt you would have any problems... unless you opened one up and burned your tongue on the powder ;-) LOL!
