its really not safe to take that much of ANYTHING if you're taking it all within like 6-8 hours. Otherwise, if you section it up a lot, its fine

Yep

Kalms contain about 135mg of valerian extract per tablet..so 1000/135=7.4 tabs would cause excessive drowsiness, but no harmful side effx unless pregnant or on cytalopram or some other anti-depressant.

That's about double the normal dose, so it won't hurt you per se... but if you haven't taken Valerian before, you should start out with the regular dose. Some people actually get the opposite effect from Valerian and are wired for a few hours after taking it.
If you've taken Valerian before, you could try taking 1,000 mg of it, but it won't make you fall asleep any faster... although you might experience something you don't expect. If you don't need to be up early tomorrow and want to try, go for it.

Yes, you can take Vitamin C in 1,000 mg, but that's because it's a water-soluble vitamin, not an herb like Valerian... they act completely different.

It depends on the content of the active compound in the tablets - a lot of the extracts vary widely in percentage of the actual amount of valerian contained within. However, valerian seems to be a relatively safe drug - and large quantities are unlikely to cause much harm. There have also been questions raised of its efficacy - clinical trials are few and results appear inconclusive. As has been mentioned, melatonin is quite probably a better natural alternative remedy; due to its pharmacological profile being the same as innate compounds produced by our own bodies.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble, so what you body is not able to use you will pee out. If you want to take a 1,000 mg per day, I would suggest divide the dosage up. You could take in two separate dosages about 6 hours apart. The Valerian the dosage that you looking to take depends on the actually form that you are planning to use.I have found that thru my research, that different manufacturers of the product will have different dosage directions. I would follow the directions that the manufacturer of the Valerian that you are suggesting to use. I am not aware of any side effects with Valerian.

the body can take only a certain amount of any vitamin then it is flush out of body when we go to bath room. you will do better to some every day, than to take it all at once. you may cause other problems in body that you don't know about. in other words you may od on it.
