Does Melatonin really work?!

I can work for some and others it can have really adverse effects. Why did you start out with that dosage? If you're getting a headache at all you probably only need a 2.5 mg dose. I would highly suggest you reduce the amount you're taking and if it still causes headaches or interferes with your sleep pattern then stop taking it altogether and try something else like Valerian.

For some people it does. Everyone is different.

Your body makes melatonin nightly. For someone having trouble with sleep, such as jet-lag or sudden changes in schedule, a supplement of melatonin can certainly help.

I've never had a headache from it; sorry you have.

As for REM sleep, unless you've been sleep-monitored, how would you know whether or not you had REM sleep?

Melatonin seems to work for some people and not for others. If you are getting a headache, then discontinue use. There are other products on the market for insomnia.
