Hypnosis has no absolute scientific basis due to the fact that it "works on some, doesn't work on others".

However in Australia the QUIT foundation has approved the Australian Hypnotherapists Association (AHA) as a group that is able to help you quit. However quiting is surprisingly not because of the cigarettes or the chemicals, nicotine can be out of your system within 3 days whilst other chemicals (which can reach in excess of 4000) may take 5 days. NOTE: This does not mean that your body is perfectly healthy in a week.

Most people trying to quit are psychologically addicted to smoking, this happens through routines - when driving somewhere, they have a smoke. Before work, they have a smoke. In the morning, coffee and cigarette. It is also engrained into the subconcious mind through repeated actions - making your body believe you want a cigarette.

Hypnosis can help to relieve you of these psychological addictions. The AHA claim that it does not matter how much you smoke, all that matters is that you actually WANT to quit. After all, hypnosis does not work on somebody who does not wish to be hypnotised.

Upon the AHA website they hold statistics stating that 60% of single session hypnosis patients quit, whereas only 6% of quitters who work on willpower alone quit. With other methods such as acupuncture and nicotine replacement therapy (patches) falling between 10-25%.

My uncle did, he smoked for 35 year and quit the next day.

No I have not tried it but I quit cold turkey for the third time and it finally worked. Once you quit try to avoid people that are smoking. (I know that they are the fun people to hang with so that is the hardest part. Non smokers are a bunch of boring people) Maybe get a Buddy to quit with you and also putting something on the line like a bet of some sort that is something of great value to you that you would not want to give up will help! Good luck don't give up keep trying!

A lady i work with said she smoked for about 25-27 years and tried everything patches, gum everything and one day was so fed up she decided to get hypnotized and said it worked and she doesn't even want them any more.

A pill ,a system, hypnosis,is just another crutch to fall back on. The will to do something like shaking a pepetual habit as smoking can be fortified into a just plain cold turkey. When a son or daughter asks for you to stop because they'd like to see you around awhile longer. And to see and play with their kids when born. It worked when my son asked that of me for one of his birthday presents when I didn't know of anything else to get him. P.S.-he was 12 then.

My step dad has been smoking since he was a teen. he decided to try hypnosis to quit.
after two weeks he still hadnt smoked, and said that all but one in the course hadnt gone back to smoking.
after 3 weeks, he was back smoking a pack a day.
i think it depends on the person as to whether it will work or not. as well as how badly you want to stop.
Also, my mum smoked throughout my entire childhood. when i was about 8 and my brother was 10. He wanted her to quit so he told her she had to give him $2 everytime he caught her smoking. my mother continued to smoke for almost a year (i knew and was covering it up for her) until i realised that i didnt want my mum smoking either and i also forced it upon her. she has now been smoke free for over 9 years.. and i believe it is because she had something to quit for, we made her see that her kids were more important than her smokes.
if you cant quit for yourself, quit for your friends and family who dont want to see you die earlier than you are suppose to.

Yes, hypnosis can work, but you still have to be committed.

my sister-in-law did, she was a chain smoker for about 20 years and she quit straight away through hypnosis and hasn't had a craving since it has been about 2 years.

Yes you can, Matt Damon quit smoking that way. Depending on the hypnotist it will change the outcome. Matt Damon took 3 sessions to quit, others need only 1.

It is not the method its the desire. If you really want to give up you will. I smoked pipes, cigars, roll your owns and packaged cigerettes for 15 years. At the birth of our first son my wife and I made a pact that we would stop so our kids would not start. That was 35 years ago sadly we still do not smoke but one boy still does.

To answer your question if you REALLY want to quit you will with hypnosis, patches or to pay for a new car which is probably the best method of all "Incentive"

And if you want to refill your ink cartridges get your monitor from http://inkmon.org

Actually for us it was cold turkey. Its not the nicotine you crave its the habit after 2 weeks its forgotten. Strangly sometimes for a few years after, in my dreams I am smoking. Its a bad thing to get caught up in. I stick to my red medicine now (Wine).

Maybe if I take it up again I can justify a new car by quiting. Never thought of that angle before.

After 13years of smoking II tried to quit smoking three times, each time unsuccesfully.. June 2007 i decided i had nothing to lose,so i tried hynosis. The day I walked out of the room after being hypnotised, just the smell of the cigerattes made me sick.. and the thought of even lighting up seemed awful.. I kept a pack of smokes in my handbag for like a month (you know just in case..) And i still have not touched one.. GoodLuck!

depends on where you are.. this is one of the latest concepts and the have endorsements and information on the websites

I have heard that it works and that it doesn't work. I personally have quit cold turkey but i have only been smoking 10 years and the main reason i smoked was that i was a bartender sitting in smoke untill illinois passed the smoking ban and i quit the job to get me out of there neways and i have not smoked since. I guess if you just find what makes you smoke and take yourself out of it you might be able to quit that way. I also just watched the Rache Ray Show and a lazer treatment worked for one of the test people.

Smoking with hypnosis is an easy thing to give up.
