THC is the part of marijuana that is intoxicating. There are legal THC pills that people can take, however smoking it is much more effective because that brings it to the brain faster, in higher doses. Anyone on medicinal marijuana has a disease bad enough that benefits (increased appetite, lowered anxiety) outweigh the risks of smoking.

to the person above.... THC pills dont allow the person using them to control how high they get, you can't just take a hit and wait for the effects, you have to pop the pill and hold on for the ride.
You can make your own MJ pills that have all the chemicals in it, and are far easier to control because you control the dose put into the pill.
