Is it possible, that there may be a link between candida and mental illness?!

Question: I have read numerous reports. Too numerous to mention, that candida is responsible for a ton of health problems. One of those I found interesting is mental illness. I read a report that a Schizophrenic individual was given some natural "Anti-Candida" herbs and supplements. It was said that not only did the person overcome the problem with the yeast infecting their body, but they also had recovered from their mental illness as well! I know that Candida has been blamed for sinusitus, urinary tract infections. Yeast infections (Candida is Yeast) and even a type of fungal menningitis. I have read one story in which a woman died from Candida overgrowth. The yeast actually spread through her entire body and caused heart failure. Why does it seem like Candida is simply "Ignored" as a possibility for the cause of a more serious problem?

Hello, Puma

I qualified in orthodox psychiatry and later used natural medicine (in particular homeopathy and diet) in my clinical practice.

In my orthodox days, had I known about constitutional homeopathy, the Paleolithic diet, probiotics, and supplements with anti-Candia albicans activity, I could have healed and discharged a good percentage of my (non-institutionalized) in-patient caseload.

Moreover, I could have avoided the involuntary commitment of some patients and I could have prevented some suicides.

You have asked an excellent question.

I hope many more people read it.

I hope my comments help.

All best wishes.

No I couldn't find any connection between the both.

I wrote a much more detailed explanation on candida and what to do to cure it (I used peroxide+kefir on my friend), but to make along story short, here are the important details. I'd be happy to link you to the actual thing if you want.
My friend told me that she realized she had all the symptoms for candida and that once she looked at the disease and how she had changed of the timeframe she believed she'd been diagnosed, she noticed that it was really messing her up both physically and mentally.
She consulted her doctors and found out that most don't think Candida is a real condition, and tell you that most of the problems are in your head (along with offering rather ineffective treatments). My school has an alternative health library with a section on candida, which is how she figured out she had the condition in the first place.

In one of the books she told me that after candida gets out of your gut, it enters your blood stream and then goes into your brain which is why it triggers all sorts of mental problems.

In her specific case she noticed the following:
She tended to get lethargic depressed and not want to do anything (whereas this is normally very uncharacteristic of her, ie. I've spontaneously gone with her on road trips twice).
She is one of the only girls I know who doesn't get emotional or dramatic, but she started doing that a lot after she had candida.
There may have been more, but those were the two I remember specifically.

After she started using the peroxide, both went away and she was amazed at how quickly or strongly the change happened.

Hope that answers your question!
For the more specific or advanced cases, you'll need to get books.

I don't think a lot of the all natural approaches are that good for dealing with candida though. They work too slowly and don't do anything. The best kill vector is some for of oxygen therapy to kill off most of the candida followed by a good probiotic to finish the job.

Clearly, there is a link. The mentally ill are FAR more likely to believe that they have candida and that it is responsible for a ton of health problems. They also believe nonsense like "sugar feeds candida" or that anti-candida herbs and supplements will eradicate the (non-existent) candida from their system. And they rely on unreliable, unproven diagnostic techniques (like ionic footbaths) to evaluate the "presence" of systemic candida.
