This does not sound like CTS. It does however; sound like an overuse syndrome. If possible reduce or stop all the typing and give your hand a rest. If you must type then take frequent rests and at the end of the typing session ice the top of your hand for about 10 to 12 minutes. Ice massage would also be good. Rest is the best way to deal with this to reduce the inflammation of what I believe is a tendonitis/bursitis.

My mom just got home from carpal tunnel surgery, Im not sure if you have it,but if you do you could go buy a splint and wear it, it might help ease the pain, but I don't think tying would cause it,but you'd have to be tying for many many years for it to be carpal tunnel.

probably some sort of sinovitis....with carpal tunnel, you usually also get compression of nerves so classically the last three fingers feel numb..do u have that?

Carpal does cause pain, it also causes numbness of the fingers. Could you have arthritis? It can strike any age, you don't have to be older. What you are describing sounds more like arthritis than carpal tunnel.

Carpeltunnel begins in the wrist and goes down the inner part of the hand.I have it as I spent years cooking for a living in a nursing home.Caused by all the chopping, stirring etc.
Your hands will get very red on the palms and they itch and burn.It can be very annoying and sore.Typing can and will cause carpeltunnel also.Any repetative movement can cause it.
I have a brace that my doctor advised I use and it helps a lot.Never got to the stange of having the surgery as I retired.
Go to your doctor and get checked out.My doctor told me right away what it was when he saw all the redness and checked my hands out.
Surgery is quite common for this problem and is now done by laser which is much easier and less recovery time too.
Good luck.

I would suggest that you go to a chiropractor and a physical therapist. You could have overworked muscles and/or resulting pinched nerves anywhere from your neck to your hand. In fact, you could have hips or lower back out of line which causes your neck and shoulders to compensate which could pinch a nerve and hurt your hand.

It is weird, but I have had my own problems like that. I have also seen this in a friend and a family member. Mine was a different area, but my friend's was like your problem.

The solution was physical therapy, which is proper stretching and massage, and chiropractic in all three cases.

I went to MD's, several, at first and they put me on all sorts of pharms, like anti-epileptics (no, I don't have epilesy) to dumb down the nerve. It was a horrible drug that caused serious problems.

Luckily, I was eventually referred to a great chiro and PT. (I also had three docs want to do some sort of surgery on me. I refused, and thank god. I didn't need anything removed or cut in two.)

It's worth having an appointment and seeing what they say, at least before doing something with serious side effects, like meds, or surgery.

Good Luck!
