How long to use probiotics?!

Question: I like using probiotics to repopulate the healthy intestinal bacteria that die off when antibiotics are used.

But my question is, how much and how long does it take to really put things back in balance? I know that a sign of balance is no yeast infections and good digestion... but those things, for a woman, can also be dependent on the monthly cycle, stress, etc. Some people use probiotics every day; that's fine too, but I'm curious to know what is necessary to replenish and get your system balancing itself out again.

I really can't add much to whats already been said. I have a chinese herbalist friend who swears by a probiotic a day, whether it be in pill form, natural yogurt or keffir.

I follow her advice on this and have seen remarked improvement on issues I was having with my stomach due to anxiety.

They're safe enough to take everyday. As far as just replenishing what's lost due to antibiotics, I would just continue taking them for a couple of days after you stop your antibiotics. Just remember though, they don't put back everything lost. We have trillions of gut bacteria, whereas most probiotics have billions of bacteria. So, we're talking about a drop of rain in a bucket, so to speak. It definitely helps though!

Probiotics are okay to take continually, daily. You really can't overdo them. We do here and like the results. We've not thought of discontinuing them at all. If you want to avoid a pill a day, you can add kefir to your daily diet. It is a power packed probiotic drink that is much like yogurt. I like to add granola to it and have it for my breakfast.

natural herbs is what i say
