I've been taking Ambien for about 8 months, and have had tremendous results, with no side affects whatsoever. I find that if I take the pill, and get into bed, within a half hour, I'm asleep. I take the 10 mg dose. The 12.5 mg is a controlled release which gives you a second dose 4 hours after you take it.
Hope this helped.

I have heard that Ambien can cause sleepwalking, moderate to severe depression and suicidal thoughts. Sorry I don't have a web reference for this.

No. . and I'm a manic depressive, you would think it would have side affects. If you're that worried, try cutting the pill in half, and just take half the pill at first. That's what I did when I first started taking them, works just as well.

Taking ambien made my mouth and lips feels funny. Sort of tingly. And it did nothing to help me sleep. Have you tried melatonin? I have tried everything for a sleep disorder and nothing works to put me to sleep unless it's to make me comatose for two days, which is acceptable. The melatonin and 1 or 2 benadryl put me to sleep better than any prescription drug has. happy dreaming!
