Is there a good alternative to Phenobarbital?!

Question: I have a wonderful little dog who is having seizures periodically (about once every two months) and they tell me that I would have to put him on phenobarbital. I really want to avoid doing this and wondered whether there is something similar in the herbal, vitamin, mineral world that I could use instead,

I don't know the answer to this but look for "Kristie" on my contact/fan list and drop her an email. She was a Vet Tech at an Animal Hospital

you can went of yahoo group for annimals and for this problem .....whit yahoo evry thingsand evryday dont have problem i am sure and i am bet

A homeopathic veterinarian would certainly approach the seizure issue in an entirely different way. There would be no drugs used all the time and over a long period.

Irene de Villiers is a veterinary homeopath whom you can engage individually for treating your dog. She is the list owner of the Yahoo group CATWELL and her practice is not limited to cats.
If you join her group you can find out how to go about engaging her services.

Hello, I would be glad to help. To be dead straight out honest...herbal home medicine can he harmful to your baby. Have they ran EEG's or MRI to determine if he has canine epilepsy? If so, I would do Phenobarbital. Are you worried about trying it due to liver damage? If so, the risk of liver disease from PB is very low. If by chance your dog is beginning to experience early signs of liver disease, the condition can usually be reversed. The use of Milk Thistle can help to improve the liver. I hope this helped you some. Umm, if you have any other questions please email me...

Pharmacy & Vet Tech

i don't think so. I developed an alergic reaction to Phenobarbital after i was released from hospital. It was replaced with nothing, so i figured they had no alternative to replace it with.
