Does spicy food really cure the common cold?!

Question: Help...please...

Answers: Help...please...

It helps.
I eat Jalepeno Peppers when I have a cold.
It helps me breathe easier.
It also gets rid of that Flem and Mucus.
Hope you feel better soon.

No. All it does is make your nose run which opens up your sinuses. Sinuses are usually swollen during a cold. So, eating very spicy or hot foods can make you feel a little better for while but it won't cure the common cold.

it certainly clears you up! nothing cures the common cold....yet. to feel better, drink hot tea. and lots of oj. my b/f does this thing- i don't know what it's called. but he boils water and puts vicks in it...then puts the pot on the holder on the table and puts a towel over the pot and his head and breathes it in. he always does that when he's sick, so it must work!

nope

If you eat spicy food it takes about two weeks to kick a cold. If you do not eat spicy food, it only takes about 14 days

well actually onion is healthy and it helps to prvent u from getting cold

Indian food has spices that have been used for their medicinal properties in addition to the flavor . A knob of fresh ginger added to tea is believed to relieve sore throats and head colds. Turmeric is used against skin diseases and neem leaves are used to guard against small pox.

doubt it, just gives you a runny nose

No, it will just make your nose run and may clear sinuses for short time. Some times with the common cold you may get diarrhea, perhaps not the best time to eat spicy food.

it sure does! Before there was medicine, there was food. Ancient Indian had a book of herbs and other natural remedies, with things such as garlic, ginger, curry, cinnamin, corriander, fennel, mint, parsley, cardamom, black pepper, sesame seeds. etc. So it could possibly be true that certain spicy dishes can cure a cold.
