Salt dissolved in luke warm water and then gargle. Works wonders.
Black tea with a spoon of honey and lemon juice
nurofen its super effect thats why it cost 7 odd dollars, better then any soother you could ever get. and thats the truth.

Gargle with salt water and talk less.. drink honey can also sooth ur throat..
Nothing seems to beat a table heaping spoon of salt in hot water and gargle. Best done at first signs of a scratchy throat

Bring a bag of hard candy.
If you REALLY want relief, get some of the Vicks Formula 44 sore throat spray. Take a hit of that and then suck down some lozenges. Doing this knocked my sore throat out quickly when I had somewhere to be and didn't want to miss out b/c I was sick. Also, drinking some Theraflu Cold and Sore Throat should do the trick. Theraflu is extremely effective... but not as convenient as the throat spray if you are hitting the road.
Honey is a natural antibiotic. It has to be one of the best healing substances in the world. I take one teaspoon of honey a day, usually before I go to bed. I teach in an elementary school ( kids are always sick) and I haven't had a cold for over two years. You can put honey on an open wound and it will heal much faster. I can't recommend it enough. Stay away from the pharmaceuticals, they always are expensive and have side effects
slippery elm tea or lozenges....works fast too
