go to the doctor

Hot compress might open up the eustacian tube and let the gunk drain out.

However if she is not feeling better in 2-3 days then she will need to see a doctor. If the infection is from virus then she will have to wait it out, if it's bacterial they will give her antibiotics.

Also if she gets antibiotics they may make her BC pill not work.

take advil or tylenol and put a damp hot cloth over the ear

OK what I do for ear infections on myself (not my children) is I use either white distilled vinegar or rubbing alcohol (you can even mix the two together) and pour it in the ear while lying down on your side. You need to keep it in the ear for 2-5 minutes then let it pour out. Do this 3 to 4 times a day for about 7-10 days. I find that my ear does get irritated from the vinegar since it is acidic and cannot keep it in my ear for more then 2 minutes. These things do work I can tell you by experience. The alcohol and the vinegar kill the bacteria that has grown in the ear. I also put rubbing alcohol in my ear after swimming too (keeping it there for a few minutes) to help get the water out and dry out the ear. Google homeopathic ear infection remedies and see what else you find. You'll probably find this a few times. I do know there are a few herbs that you can use too but I don't remember them off the top of my head. They'll pop up if you google them.

I feel her pain; I've had ear infections for many many years. Sometimes there underlying problems (ie cyst) or simply water in the ear

Antibiotics, hot compress, mineral oil (forces water out) or going to a specialist to remove excess ear wax.

I had to have tubes placed in my ear when I was younger because of my vulnerability to ear infections, so as you can imagine, my mom tried lots of things to get it to feel better. One thing I found worked for me, is putting a bit of peroxide on a cotton ball, placing it inside the ear, and covering it with a warm washrag.

It alleviates some of the symptoms, and the medicine clears everything else up!

Good luck, I hope she feels better.

peroxide is a good to flush the ear out & tilt your head &dry with a hair dryer, thats if you can catch it before it gets really bad,if its really bad you will need to see a DR. & get some antibiotics,& ear drops, hope your friend feels better soon, but remember ear infection is nothing to let linger very long, can cause some serious damage

They make some over the counter stuff. I found it at Walgreens. It took me forever to find it, ask the pharmacy and they will point you to it. Unfortunately when I went they were closed.....good luck!

Alright, half an onion and bake it, bind it over the ear no more pain. If you are near an herb store there is a product made by HerbPharm, mullein flowers and garlic in olive oil. It comes in a 1/2 ounce bottle and does a good job on ear aches.
While she has the problem it is not a good idea, but as a follow up you might buy some ear candles, read the instructions carefully and implement their healing power.

I've only heard of this once and I don't know how true it is, but I heard if you drink pee it will help.
