Yes,alka seltzer IS disgusting...I guess you could try mixing it into anything you'd prefer to drink, not sure how it would taste though.
For a cold maybe get some Tylenol cold and flu. The pills are red and green i believe. They work wonders =)
Or make any kind of hot beverage (tea,coffee,et). Breathing/smelling in the steam will help you if you're congested.

Alka seltzer is not for colds. Its to help with the digestive system when you feel a bit bunged up or have an upset tummy or a hang over. Go out and buy proper cold medication and don't waste your money on this product. hope you feel better soon.
Alka seltzer won't help a cold. It won't help much, old remedy for heart burn that is no longer recommended. It is sodium bicarbonate and aspirin. If you want pain relief, just take plain aspirin.
