More hernias. Different places. Prevention?!

Question: Hernia--4 surgeries and now another hernia. Both abdominal and inguinal. 70 years old, trim, healthy, active, health conscious. No known predisposing factors except for age (no COPD. constipation, tescular problem, inheritance, etc). What can I do for prevention? Vitamins, supplements, diet, exercise, support? Other than the most common causes any other situation I can address for prevention?

What is not clear by your question is are these 4 separate hernias, or have you re-herniated. If they are 4 separate ones then you suffer from "bad protoplasm". This just means that you have weak connective tissues and the weakness is what causes the hernia. I know I have the same condition. Now if you are repairing old surgeries then you need a better technique for repair. If you went answers you can log onto the North Penn Hernia Insts. website. There you can ask Dr. Goodyear your questions and he will respond. All he does is hernias and he is darn good at it. I went from MN to PA to get my right inguinal repaired, and I am glad I did. Good luck.

you might of already had these from long ago and now they are just big enough to notice or cause problems
hopefully this will be your last
