It was used as a sedative in the 1800's, for pain, resulting in a sick headache the next morning, if used very long it would make the skin gray and make the person sick. If not mixed right or if over dosed could result in death.
The last thing any sane person would want to use.
It is an old very potent narcotic. You can kill someone with it.
Why would you even consider such a thing?
vinum opii used to be a sweet drink (wine) with a lot of sugar. Nausea and headaches are some of the effects as well as stomach problems. However, lacing drinks for whatever purpose is the most disturbing part of the question!
