Grapefruit juice only impacts medications which a major metabolism pathway is the Cyp 3A4 enzyme. Many medications are not impacted by this interaction.

Some people are naive and just don't know any better. Some do it exactly for those reasons.

Grapefruit and it's juice is a cause for concern for some meds and nothing to worry about with others...
