Is it safe to use nyquil as a sleep aid?!

Question: Safe.... probably....

Stupid... Definitely.

That goes for the Benadryl too ladies...

Go see a Dr.
There are plenty of causes that affect sleep. Just ask for something other than Ambien.... ya know, something that will not have you mysteriously sleep walking to the neighbor's house at night and giving him a reach-around or worse...lol

i guess

I think so, but I never tried it.
Use Bendrayl instead, it makes me so damn tired!
And its safe for you too, people take it everyday for allergies, but also a sleep aid.
Take my advice from experience :)

No.

Uh yeah... although there are OTC sleep meds... this shouldn't be in the alternative medicine category... but... none the less , yes it's safe.

but i don't think it works as well as diphenhydramine.

occassionally maybe, but you don't want to make a habit of it.

I wouldn't. If you are having problems sleeping then please talk to your doctor.

see a dr you don't want to become dependent on that stuff just to sleep

yes

probably
the most that can happen is well i dont even know probably have a headache all the time

i've used it as a sleep aid before, i dont think its completely safe to use it as a sleep aid, but the only side effects i've ever had when i woke up from using it are bad headaches, and slight drowsiness

Tylonal PM is a better sleep aid, it is basically just aspirin that helps you sleep, i recommend using that instead of Nyquil

No, not for every night. Nyquil has a lot of other medicine in it for colds, flu, etc.

If all you need is a sleep remedy, try Tylenol Simply Sleep or Unisom. All they have in them are sleep aid, and a bit of pain reliever, which is all you need if you're not ill, and you can't sleep.

Please do not take any sleep-aids until you see a Doctor.
They can have many dangers if you do not take them as diracted by your doctor.
they are also very easy to OD on, and are not good to take every night.

Hope i helped!!!

Relieving symptoms of pain, sinus congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and cough due to colds, upper respiratory infections, and allergies. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

n don use this if.....

you are allergic to any ingredient in NyQuil Liquid
you have severe high blood pressure, severe heart blood vessel disease, rapid heartbeat, or severe heart problems
you are unable to urinate or are having an asthma attack
you take sodium oxybate (GHB) or you have taken furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (eg, phenelzine) within the last 14 days

That's an overwhelmingly dumb question. Buy Melatonin. It's a natural chemical (it is a chemical, right?) that is also produced in your and everyone else's body. Usually just one pill will help you get your sleep on.

Nyquil is addictive. Don't you watch the news?

My friend's mom uses it, along with many other things. I use it when I cough and it knocks me out. It is really nasty tasting though, I don't know why you would want to take it every night. Just get like tylenol PM, I worked at a nursing home, and we used to substitue it for a sleep aid (when someone showed signs of dependency) It works the same, just not habit forming.

No medicine is good for a sleep aid. Why don't you try exercising or doing something that will make you tired so you can sleep? If you read the bottle it says that it is fine as long as you don't use it every day. Go to the link in the source for some alternative ways to sleep other than doping yourself up on NyQuil. Plus NyQuil taste nasty.

Why would you do this? Just purchase an OTC sleep aid.

no because of the alcohol content in it.

not as a habit
