Do you hate certain smells? I can't stand the smell of lavendar (essential o!

Question: It makes me angry for some reason. Also it makes me feel like I am suffocating. Anyone else react to smells in this way? On the other hand, when I smell orange or lemon (essential oils) it makes me relaxed and happy.

Omg I hate Lavender too! It feels like it's choking me.

I cant stand spearmint...but thats because i grew up having to take dilantin tablets..which are spearminty

Jasmine. Its a sickeningly sweet smell when its in abundance. Small doses, I like. I also dont like Patchouli oil. People over-do it.

I cant stand the smell of hospitals..there's sum kinda weird (eeww) cant describe it..makes me wanna puke...

Wow....it is supposed to calm and relax you, not anger you. Essential oils on the other hand are the strongest out there and lavender is a little strange smelling..that is why less is better with essential oils....if you're using it for relaxation, you may want to try putting just a small amount on your temples. not quite so close to your nose? Orange and lemon are for energizing, not relaxing. Maybe your nose is mixed up! haha

Artificial cherry flavoured anything the smell and the taste make me think of furniture polish.

I hate grape. The smell and the taste. I used to take grape Sudafed when I was little because I had colds a lot, and now I can't stand grape.

Any of the perfumed candles give me a head ache. If I spend longer than ten minutes in the candle and gift shop I come out smelling like them.

I think we all have negative association with some smells that makes us avoid them. Sometimes there is a good reason, like we may have a mild allergy to the plant.

I have a personal dislike of Chamomile essential oil. I don't care much for the tea, either. But I use both of them anyway. Chamomile oil helps reduce eye puffiness when I'm having my annual mold allergy symptoms. The tea will calm upset stomach and 3 cups (yuck) will make me sleepy.

As owner of an herb store, I saw many people turn up their noses at the strong smell straight out of the tester bottle. But if I diluted an oil that I thought was going to help them, dabbed it on the back of the hand and asked them to think about it for a day, many came back and bought the very thing they first detested. Essential oils are not meant to be used "neat" typically, as they are too strong.

Patchouli, for instance, is a strong perfume and aphrodisiac when one uses just one drop in a big dollop of lotion or oil and applies it over a large area. So 1 drop in a tablespoon of carrier is about right for most noses - subtle.

If you already own a bottle of lavender essential oil, try putting 2 drops lavender, 3 drops orange in 2 teaspoons unscented lotion or other carrier oil. Use only about 1/4 teaspoon of it at a time. You might be pleasantly surprised at the combo.

Citrus oils are not relaxing but they ARE known to lift the mood and supress appetite.

The smell of pine makes me sick to my stomach. Love lavender, however. It's funny that it makes you angry, because it's supposed to be relaxing and orange and lemon are supposed to make you alert.

thats strange about lavender...maybe its a rancid or synthetic one. But ya, I don't like the smell of jasmine oil.

I hate the smell of rotten eggs.
I hate the smell of bad breath.
I hate the smell of stinky feet.

I could go on and on and on...

but if you are speaking mainly of fragrances or food -- I would have to say the smell of bell peppers -ICK! And patuli incense ( how do you spell patuli?)

Be sure you are using good quality organic essential oils. Some are adulterated. A bad quality oil will not affect you the way a good one will.

I am not too fond of fennel plants, they stink to me!
Lantana isn't too much better!
The taste of cilantro makes me gag!

Young Living makes a blend called Citrus Fresh. It is a blend of orange, tangerine, mandarin, grapefruit, lemon and spearmint. It is quite uplifting, benefits the immune system and is certainly a much different smell than lavender! Check out their site at www.youngliving.us to find out more on this blend and let me know what you think!
