Which online program is the best for massage therapy?!

Question: I want to become a massage therapist. Which online program is the best for a stay at home mom? Also, any advice on grants or loans that could assist me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'm currently a massage therapy student, and because massage therapy is a physical job, you are required, in most states, to have so many classroom hours, including practical classes.

Anatomy classes and things like that can probably be done online, but you need the classroom experience to teach you proper body mechanics and correct methodology.

I'm posting the link to the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork below. You can find out what your state's requirements are there. Good luck!

As far as financial aid goes, you may want to fill out your FAFSA to see what is offered to you. I'll post that link too.

Also, I love my classes. I actually look forward to going to class since I started. I hope that helps your decision.

Massage therapy is a hands-on profession. You should find a school with a physical to go to to develop the different techniques

how do you do a cyber massage i cant hardly rub my own back so i cant help sorry. When I was a little boy my mommy left me home all by myself and this fella showed up and he said "Hi there sonny is your mom home?" And I sez back to him " No she is down at the massage parlor" And he sez back to me "Oh so she's a prostitute?" and I sez back to him " no sir she's a substitute she only works Tuesday's and Thursday's. I hope it all works out for u though so u can stay at home with that baby good luck

There are a few online programs which have hands on classes led by local massage therapists. Many states are now accepting online programs. You first have to know what the requirements are in your state and find out if a school has to be approved by your state and they will sometimes have a list of accepted schools.

While learning the massage part is definitely a hands on thing, the rest can be learned from books (anatomy, pathology etc) if you are a self starter and a background in science would help.

The school you pick will help you with loans and grants but massage school isn't that expensive compared to college educations. Being able to get a Federal grant depends on the number of hours of training offered.

You might want to save and pay for it yourself as starting a massage business is really difficult the first few (5 ) years and finding a job that pays more than $20 an hour is hard to come by to pay off the loans.

Good luck

Thirty-three states require that you attend an accredited school. The rest are trying to pass legislation to require that you attend an accredited school. Online courses do not meet these requirements.

If you want to purchase massage therapy liability insurance, you must attend a school in your state that offers at minimum 100 hours of credit.

If you practice Massage Therapy in a state that requires you to be licensed, and you are not, then you will be in legal and/or criminal trouble such as the Massage Therapist that used to work for deceased actor Heath Ledger.

Pell grants and Stafford loans will be able to assist you, but only if you attend an actual school. These governmental loans do not cover online schools.

Massage Therapy is a hands-on trade. You need to attend an actual school to learn this stuff.
