I keep hearing that the average working life as a massage therapists is only abo!

Question: How true is this? What is the impact on your body? Will this cause further problems in old age?

If you follow proper body mechanics, you will be able to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetative use injuries. I've only been doing it for 11/2 years. My friends have been doing it for 20 or more without problems.

I think this is probably true, but I don't think it's down to the effect it has on the body. I think it's because it's an attractive looking profession that lots of people go for thinking that it's a relatively easy way of earning good money.
After they have completed the training they realise it's hard work and not particularly rewarding, so after a short while they drop out and look for something else.

It's not true. I know people who have been practising therapists for years. In the case of one lady, almost twelve.

The type work they do causes them to develop carpal tunnel quickly..Same with people who work on computers all day long.....

I have been in the business for over 34 years and am yet to develop any bad side effects from massage therapy.
The only problem I have is with the government trying to get a piece of my money without earning it.
