While waiting for your doctor's appointment...

- Hold a warm compress to the ear. Inhaling steam may also help. Or use a vaporizer if you have one.
- Gargle with warm salt water to soothe a sore throat and help open blocked ears.
- Drink plenty of water or other clear liquids.
- Use pillows to raise the head when lying down. This helps drain the middle ear.

I'n not sure what your symptoms are, but when I had an ear ache I used some rubbing alcohol.

If you have an infection, the only remedy is antibiotics. This really isn't something you should take care of at home. It is easily treatable with medication, and it's just as easy for it to spread and cause serious health problems for you. If you can't get in to see the doctor, just go to the ER or the walk-in clinic.

I had an ear ache so I didn't want it to spread so I didn't mess around I went to the doctor

I know some ppl use peroxide to clean ears out but antibiotics is the only thing I can think of for an ear infection. You can ask your pharmasist about it. but remember an ear infection can lead to other infections as the ears nose and throat are all connected

Echinacea works really well, but I have found that the liquid form far outweighs the pill form. The liquid form is nasty as hell but it does work as well as antibiotics in some cases.
I had cholesteatoma in my ear, which is a tumor like mass that grows in the inner ear. Infection set in and it was pretty gross with a lot of drainage. The infection was actually becoming immune to antibiotics and so in a last ditch effort the doc told me to go get some Echinacea.
It didn't fix the problem (as it requires surgery) but it did indeed clear it up a lot. A lot less drainage.
Also peroxide does help to get the junk out of there.

Willow and Garlic Ear Oil. It's in any health food store, made by Herbs for Kids.

Phone NHS direct or

Get and see a doctor now you know you need penicillin, take care as the next bit is ear ache..

Most ear infections will go way on their own if you just wait it out. A lot of doctors don't like prescibing antibiotics too often for ear infections because after awhile people can build up an immunity to antibiotics and then when you really need them for something they won't work. But if it's a really bad ear infection then antibiotics are a good option. Until you see the doctor you can put a little cotton in your ear and that can help.

I myself get chronic ear infections but it is really my own fault...I clean my ears obsessivly every day and they are too clean thus causing myself to get ear infectins and I just must deal with them.

Good Luck!

For relief now, make yourself some warm garlic oil. Let the peeled clove steep a bit in some olive oil. Then take that out, and warm the oil, and pour the oil into your ear. Then put some cotton into the ear.

It really does help. I do know though that if there is any chance your eardrum has ruptured, do not do this. Good luck..ear pain sure is brutal!

Warm some olive oil, pour off a tea spoon into the ear and plug with cotton wool,.....Tried and tested....Hope you,r better nothing worse than an earache.

hold a hot damp rag over your ear that can help...i do that when i have an earache
