my mother would tell me to gargale with warm salt water. it would help kill the pain...also she would give me a spoonfull of honey. hope this works for you.

Have you tried drinking lots of water?

NO! Citrus is harsh and will probably further irritate your sore throat.

Gargle warm salt water, or use over-the-counter medicine like Chloreseptic (sp?) or the like.

I've never heard of oranges being used for that purpose, but no reason you couldn't try (I'd think the citrus would burn an irritated throat).

Throat lozenges (for sore throats, not cough drops used for cough cessation) are often helpful temporarily (esp those with menthol in them to soothe the throat).

Cloraseptic (sp?) comes in a spray and may help, but again anything you use is likely to be very temporary as the act of swallowing causes the product to leave the throat fairly quickly.

If it's quite severe, call your doctor. There may be an underlying infection or something that needs to be treated asap...and s/he can also give you something to clear up that sore throat.

No but honey can. The warm salt water thing works too.

warm (distilled) water with fresh lemon juice always helps me a lot. It feels so good. I've heard you can add honey too it too to help but I've never used it.

Try this, gargling with vinegar and salt water (nice and simple).
GOOD LUCK

Try Zinc lozenges with Echinesea.
