Medical Marijuana Question?!

Question: I get prescribed medical marijuana and I am wondering if any of you know a way to cook it, how do I get the THC out and what is a good recipe?

First, if you want to use it without smoking it, there is the option of vaporizing it, although vaporizers that actually consistently vaporize it instead of burning it are a bit pricey (do a yahoo search on the volcano vaporizer, which is what I use).

The easiest way to cook it is to boil a pot of water. Put a stick of butter in the water and wait for it melt. After it has melted, reduce the heat to a low simmer and add the marijuana that you have ground up (a food processor is great for this) and allow it to sit in the simmering butter water for about a half hour, being careful to keep it at a low simmer, so nothing burns. If you want to remove the plant particles from the liquid, use a sieve or cheesecloth to strain it off before freezing. Pour the contents of the pot into a container and put it in the freezer. Once it has frozen, you can easily remove the separated layer of canna-butter from the frozen water below it and can use this in cooking just like you would use regular butter (be careful of high temperature cooking, though, since it will destroy some of the active ingredients, I recommend only using it for baking or putting on things like toast).

One thing to keep in mind is that you DO need to use REAL butter (NOT oil, margarine or other butter substitute), as the active ingredients are fat solulable, and butter has real fat in it for the active ingredients to bind themselves to.

This method is the easiest way I've found, and is much more certain than the "put butter and pot into a skillet and hope you don't burn it" method.

EDIT: I'd also like to mention, since it sounds like you've never ingested marijuana before, that it will take about a half hour to an hour to start feeling the affects from eating it this way, as opposed to the immediate response you get from smoking or vaporizing it. It's probably best to eat whatever you've put your butter into on an empty or nearly empty stomach, just for maximum absorption, and you'll be able to feel the affects more clearly. The effects also last longer this way than if you were to just smoke or vaporize it.

There's also a popular search result on Google video for making butter this way. Try searching "canna butter" on Google video and look for the chef with the ski mask or something on his face. This is how I learned of this method.

cook it? i thought you just smoke it. Try googling it.

you have to cook it in oil to release the THC...just saute it in oil until the oil is fragrant....then add to cookies or brownies and just follow the preparation instructions.

??? what state u in and whats wrong with you? lol sry. You can make hot coa coa out of it, brownies, cake, or smoke it. Never eat it without it cooking first.

you put a little bit of oil in a pan or whatever and dump the weed in it and cook it for a litle bit. about thirty minutes. not on high thoguh, on low then take the weed out and use the oil to make whatever. get brownie mix, on the directions itl say pu two teaspoons of oil or whatever use the weed oil you just made

Amelia, I would suggest that U google pot recipes!

:o)

boil it in butter then strain let sit it will form a butter use the butter as any other

If you have the money for it get a vaporizer.

It releases the THC from the herb without burning so you don't inhail the tar and the carbonmonoxide that comes from burning ANYTHING.

Top it off with what remains at the bottom of the vaporizer still containing about 35% of the active thc you can then take THAT and soak it in warm oil to get the rest of the thc out for cooking.

They are the experts on this sort of thing...

THC is the active ingredient that makes it work... You don't want the THC out.

Cooking marijuana makes the THC more easily absorbed in digestion, which is the desired affect ( a nice buzz ), so cooking doesn't take it out, it breaks it down for better absorption.

The resins in weed are not water soluble. Mama always enjoyed the brownies, you do not need to use a lot. Just grind it up and toss it in. Bake till done.
