Well, here are some suggestions:

Gargle with warm salt water to help reduce swelling and relieve discomfort:
Gargle at least once each hour with 1 tsp (5 g) of salt dissolved in 8 fl oz of warm water.
If you have postnasal drip, gargle often to prevent more throat irritation.
Prevent dehydration. Fluids may help thin secretions and soothe an irritated throat. Hot fluids, such as tea or soup, may help decrease throat irritation.
Use a vaporizer or cool air humidifier in your bedroom.
Warm or cool mist may help you feel more comfortable by soothing the swollen air passages. It may also relieve hoarseness. However, don't let your room become uncomfortably cold or very damp.
Use a shallow pan of water to provide moisture in the air through evaporation if you don't have a humidifier. Place the pan in a safe location where no one will trip on it or fall into it.
Also, suck on some of your favorite popsicles!

When I first clicked the link to answer your question I was thinking, "Hey, I'm not the only one who screams for fun!" but then my dreams were crushed. Oh well. Anyway... You could go into the bathroom, close the door, and turn the shower on really hot and then just sit there. Not in the shower but in the bathroom, because the steam helps your throat but you don't want to burn yourself O.o. So, yeah. Or drinking a little bit of warm salt water. It's gross but it works pretty well... OR cough drops. They're disgusting too, though... Hope I helped.

speak softly if at all for the next few days, and drink water, plenty of water.

Honey and lemon in warm water and also a salt-water gargle will help treating a sore throat. also, pop an aspirin or two -- remember Aspergum (Aspirin+Gum ... get it? ... )? I don't know if it's still available, but it was great for treating a sore throat. and above all, keep quiet. your voice needs time to recover.

here's a good article about the common causes of the different kinds of sore throats (with cures!). take a look to make sure you didn't get a cold or flu at band practice.

People who use their voice a lot could experience hoarseness and throat discomfort from time to time. In one container or pan, mix one tablespoon of chopped ginger with 2 cinnamon sticks. Add one liter of boiling water. Let it boil for 10 minutes.Take half a glass or one glass per day, until your voice improves.
