Sorry I have never tried cayenne for sore throat. I have other remedies, such as gargling with sage tea or very warm, salted lemon water.

I have used cayenne, though, and it burns my throat. I put 1/8 teaspoon cayenne powder with juice of one garlic clove and 2 tablespoons lemon juice and drink on an empty stomach first thing in the morning to increase circulation, wake me up and boost oxygen levels. The lemon acid helps tame the heat in the mouth but it is a little painful on my throat.

If you want to try it, it won't do any damage and might offer some healing benefits. It will probably hurt your throat a lot for a couple of minutes but might help you kick whatever is causing the soreness. "Cayenne encourages the adrenal glands to produce coricosteroids."* The extra cortisol helps the body to cope with stress such as infection, trauma, pain, surgery, or emotional problems

if it's dry - then no, don't do it.
try slippery elm bark or perhaps licorice (the real stuff)

oh, and gargle with some warm salt water a few times.

Would have thought it would give you one not fix one.

Yes i have used it.. my recipe is lemon juice, water and as much cayenne pepper as you can handle. Hope this helps.

I never used cayenne pepper. But I'll suggest some indian herbal therapies I know, who knows it might help later.

Ginger/lemon water.
-heat up some water probably a cup. I
-grate some fresh ginger into the water. about the volume of half a finger.
-add some black pepper (about 2-3 generous pinches)
-and squeeze one lime into it. You should get at least 4 table spoons of juice.
-Now let the water reduce to about 3/4.
-pour the liquid through a fine strainer to separate it from the shredded ginger
-Add as much honey as you please.

Oh, when you first get a soar throat you can alwasy do a salt and warm water gargle. it helps.

hmm...what else.
Tumeric powder with some warm milk and a pinch of salt (this is more helpful with coughs)
