There are good breathing techniques in yoga, and chi gong. Tai chi helps people a lot as well. One thing is to look at what leads you to worry and anxiety, and there may be some thought patterns you can choose to not engage when they come up. There are a lot of good herbal combinations you could explore as well as essential oils, ayurveda also has good strategies, including specific therapies including oil massage, and dripping warm sesame oil in the forehead. One yogic master suggested simply relaxing the forehead during the day, that triggers the rest of the body. good luck.

Music seems to help me a lot. There are certain songs that just seem to change my mood. You may also try a different type of exercise -- maybe one a little more agressive. Granted, yoga is relaxing, but it also gives you time to think!

do try sweating it out through sports or exercise. it's a good medium to release tension & for the duration of your activity, you won't think so much of what causes your anxiety. try something new. get a hobby. be creative. enjoy a ben & jerry's once in awhile ;p a good friend would be great, too. take care now & good luck. :)

Reiki and Aromatherapy are good options. Homeopathy in itself is a complete system and if you are able to find a good homeopath, you should get good results.

I agree with the comments about aromatherapy and music, whatever kind works for you. I recently read that some people relax when they listen to heavy metal and hard rock, which seems counter-intuitive. Personally, I like to listen to Celtic music, either instrumental or with soft lyrics. I don't know if it's the themes or the melodies or both, but they never fail to drive my headache back into a corner, though sometimes a darkened room is also necessary.

Aromatherapy works for me but only to a lesser extent. Yoga and meditation were my first thoughts when I saw your question so I can't help you there. I've read about St. John's wort but for anxiety I usually just take a half-tablet of prescription lorazepam and that calms me within half an hour or so. I only do that a couple of times a month when nothing else works but it's nice to know it's an option and maybe that helps me use it less.

Some pressure point therapy might also help, but I don't know the specific points to use for anxiety. It does work for my headaches even though my rational mind tells me it can't work.

Finding the root cause of the anxiety is really key, otherwise you are mostly just treating a symptom.

Also, anxiety can be a symptom of an infection, as I discovered with my son-in-law. He had an ongoing cold which was harboring an ear infection, and despite my attempts to get him to treat it, he didn't feel sick enough I guess. He called one day having a severe anxiety attack. I sent my daughter to him with some GSE and after one dose the anxiety left. He had been diaged with an ear infection for which he declined the antibiotic, and I told him to use GSE instead. Once he started taking it, he felt better and the anxiety, cold and ear infection ALL went away.
