How long does St. John's Wort work?!

Question: it seems to help, but even after a week it doesn't do as much, any comments?

Well it is suppose to make you feel better, but not be a permanent high. My experience with it was that when I used it it just took the really bad edge off, so i felt completely normal after a week, but it was still working, I just felt normal. I could def. tell when I quit taking it, but by that time i didn't need it anymore.

Also the dosage might be an issue. I am a tiny girl. And so I process things in my body a lot differently than you might. So you might want to look for a higher dosage or take an extra one half way though the day to see if it helps.

And if it just doesn't seem to work at all, you might try just going to the doctor and seeing if they can give you something a little stronger for a short period of time. Cause I don't think, St. John's Wart isn't really intended for long term use.

It has never worked for me.

Depends on what you're using it for.

I do not know...But there is an herb called "Mood enhancer"..Now notice, it seems to work...

To experience max benefit, you need to take it for few months.

Keep taking it. 30 days to get the max.

You are feeling better it seems so stay with what works.

If you're supplementing with St. John's Wort, you need to be doing so for at least a month before anything takes effect. I don't know if you know, but it is very dangerous to take this supplement if you are on other psychiatric medications. I just wanted you to be aware because it can cause serious problems such as serotonin syndrome.

WHEN R U TAKING IT I WAS TOLD TO GET THE MOST FROM IT TAKE IT A NIGHT RIGHT BEFORE BED SO WHEN YOU WAKE UP ITS HAD TIME TO GET IN YOUR SYSTEM GOOD I CAN TELL WHEN I FORGET TO TAKE IT

Clinical trials of specific St John's wort products indicate that it takes up to 4 weeks to reach it's full effect. It should not "wear off" if that is what you are experiencing. It could be that you need to take it for a few weeks more to get some results. For the most reliable results for a herbal medicine like St John's wort it is important to check with the manufacturer if the specific product has been clinically trialled - St John's wort products vary significantly in the market (like all natural products).

Found this article on St John's wort. It is today most widely known as a herbal treatment for depression. In some countries, such as Germany, is commonly prescribed for mild depression, especially in children, adolescents, and where cost is a concern. Standardized extracts are generally available over the counter
