Can yoga as effective as chiropractic care?!

Question: It really depends upon the person and the problem. I am a chiropractor and you would be surprised at the amount of people that come into my office with pain after starting yoga. Of course, nearly all of these people are buying a DVD and have no idea what they're doing.

After the initial phase of care in my office (2 or 3 visits) I ALWAYS recommend yoga/pilates exercises. They are demonstrated and performed in the office to make sure they are done properly. The most important thing is that your body is ready for the exercises. If you choose to start with yoga before chiropractic care, your best bet is to find a yogi and take the classes.

I do not believe that yoga can be as effective without chiropractic care. However, the two together work great when used in conjunction; especially for chronic discomfort.
Best of luck to you.

it is more effective then chiropractors

Both effective but perhaps not equal. Like comparing apples to eggs perhaps.

i think it would depend on the severity of your pain and what works best with your mind/body.

Both are effective, for different reasons. Yoga is great for reducing stress, increasing flexibility, fitness and overall health. Chiropractic is great for injuries, chronic pain and conditions, headaches, menstrual cramps etc..

It depends on the DC and how dedicated one is to learning yoga..and what the condition is of course..both can work..yoga,meditation will always be cheaper though...cause you are learning to treat yourself

if you want to do yoga to improve your health then that's ok, but if you're doing it to avoid the chiropractor...bad idea. Certain back problems can be aggrevated by exercise like yoga, you have to be real careful if the yoga begins to aggrevate your back issues then stop. There are stretches that you can do to help your back issues, talk to your chiropractor about them and if he doesn't have any ideas then seek out a physical therapist and/or sports rehab.
