Do I need to take enzymes if I already take probiotics in yogurt everyday?!

Question: Probiotics create enzymes, right? So then I don't need to take them as another supplement, right?

Yes, you should take enzymes even if you eat yogurt daily. No, probiotics don't create enzymes, your body creates most of the enzymes (especially your Pancreas).

There are some yogurt companies that might add enzymes to their yogurt, but enzymes and probiotics aren't really closely related. Neither one creates the other, but sometimes they are put together.
Basically, enzymes help break down the food starting in your stomach (and working in various parts of your intestines) while probiotics are the beneficial bacteria that help absorb the nutrients in your intestines and help keep you regular. If you take both, they work really well in conjunction with each other.

Probiotics are great. I take them myself. They aren't the only thing you need, though, especially if you are already having health problems.

I don't have health problems myself, but I don't want to develop them either. I like to add other natural supplements like green barley and carrots and beets in a powdered form to be sure I get all the nutrients I need.

Of course, you could juice the veggies up yourself and drink it fresh, but I am #1 too lazy and #2 not sure we are getting very good quality vegetables these days with all the pesticides and other chemicals as well as the depleted soil from over farming.

The whole food powder costs a little more than doing it yourself, but I figure I'm saving heaps down the road in doctor bills and they seem to do the trick.

Taking beneficial bacteria is good. Yogurt is a good source as is some of the functional foods now on the market. These foods are marketed as to what bacteria they contain. Now for enzymes. There are people who do need to take them. People with Cystic fibrosis, or people with pancreatic insufficiency. If you have neither then you do not need to take enzymes. If you want to anyway they will not hurt you but you need to take them shortly before each meal otherwise they will simply break down and that is it.

I would take both because the yogurt restores good bacteria
while enzymes aid in properly digesting your food.
