HELP!!!!!!!!!! my mom is sick from high blood pressure and is in the hospital. U!

Question: She just called and she's in the hospital right now.
She had a headache this morning, due to the pressure,
and she just called in a heavy, broken breathes, panting.

I had a fight with my mom last night screaming and yelling, and this must have increased the pressure in her veins- due to the stress.

my sister and brother in law is going there right now.

and i'm afraid she'll be hospitalized.

can someone die from high blood pressure? what can the doctors do? this high blood pressure seem to be fast-progressing -

what can i do? can someoone please tell me what the doctors are going to do? is she going to be ok?

Calm down!!! Number one your mom's blood pressure was probably a preexisting condition that was aggravated by emotional stress or it might not even have nething to do with the fight at all. But if you freak out & make it seem bad when you are speaking to her it will only make her stress level worse. It sounds like she is experience some type of fluid overload. From the panting and heavy breathing. The headache is caused because an extreme pressure in the vessel of her head is causing the veins to dilate ( get larger) sending pain signals. Did she take her blood pressure this morning? Is that how she knew it was high? Anyway extremely high blood pressure can be a serious condition which can cause damage to certain organs including the brain, heart, & kidneys. However she is in the best place possible. There are several several several types of medications called anti-hypertensives which can bring her blood pressure down fairly quickly. They will probably give her a combination of 2 or 3 different drugs which effect blood pressure in different ways. examples are ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, calcium channel blockers. If it is something to do with a fluid overload then she will probably receive a diuretic which will cause her to urinate frequently in turn lowering the amount of fluid circulating in her blood which will lower her blood pressure. If your mother has been previously diagnosed with high blood pressure then be sure to stress to her the importance of taking her prescribed medications regularly & she should consider purchasing an electronic BP monitor which are fairly inexpensive @ wal-mart & taking her blood pressure a few times a wk especially if she is experiencing headache or fatigue.

First of all the fight you had does not cause high blood pressure...there has to be something already going on for that to happen. It may increase someone's pressure...but for folks with normal blood pressue it goes down to normal quickly. So obviously this is something that has been there a while.

High blood pressure is usually a symptom of something else going on. Since she is in the hospital they should be able to stabalize it while she is there. Her doctors will let her and the family know what they will do and why. Be sure to ask questions if you are present...and if you or your sister or mom need more answers do not hesitate to ask the nurses to get the doctor back to talk to you again etc.

Hopefully all will be ok.

It's almost impossible to die from blood pressure, but some people may die from other things that stem from high blood pressure and/or the blood pressure drugs.

Although I have to say, if your mom's blood pressure was already that high, I don't think much would have changed if you didn't have the fight... you shouldn't blame yourself at all. Besides, if your fight caused the problem, she would have gone to the hospital last night when you had the fight, not several hours (plus sleep time) later after she's calmed down a LOT. Having your fight the night before was likely just coincidence.

Her high blood pressure would be the result of minimal exercise and/or a poor diet among other possible factors. You have no reason to blame yourself, but you can help her recover and get better by helping her discuss her dietary and exercise needs with a nutritionist or dietitian.... and maybe helping to remind her if she needs help.
If it helps, I can also recommend several natural products that can help with blood pressure (you can E-mail me).
I wish the both of you good luck and good health!

Sounds like ur mom is a Drama Queen, I think I saw this on the Adam Sandler Movie the Water Boy. Momma dont get what she wants and puts herself in the hospital. Gee u must feel guilty, she got her way didn't she. She is feeding her ego and so are you if you freak out and fawn all over her. Sorry to be mean but It seems as if you cooled down she would too

First of all, calm down!!!!
Take a deep breath, let it out, take another deep breath and let it out......again....again.

The doctors who are treating her can tell you whether she'll be OK.

No one has ever died from High Blood Pressure- it is not a disease or disorder.
Does your mother have:
cold hands and feet,
thinning eyebrows,
poor concentration,
insomnia, daytime drowsyness,
poor diet/eating habits,
increased weight-gain?
Sounds like your mother is experiencing symptoms of hypothyroidism (low amounts of thyroid hormone).
Get a saliva test for thyroid levels (DO NOT GET THE BLOOD TEST: the blood test will show the T4 levels. T4 thyroid is an unusable thyroid, because it is wrapped up in proteins, making it unusable to the body.); the saliva test will show T3 levels, the active thyroid that needs to be adjusted.
The synthetic thyroid is also unusable to the body; you need natural thyroid-WESTROID.
Check out www.doctortalk.com( spam-free website for a Dr. Howard Hagglund, a naturapath), and he will have info on the hypothyroidism.
All the best to you and your mother.

Relax or you will end up beside her! Medication for hypertension is very effective so she'll be ok.
